In my second semester of MLIS studies, I learned the basics behind cataloging in a library, how academic libraries function, and the key tenants behind instructional design. Now, if you ask me to read a MARC record or demonstrate the stages of the A-ADDIE Model, I'm your girl Friday. The spring 2018 semester taught me a lot about how many levels of operation I library operates on from a day-to-day basis and reminded me to never take librarians for granted!
LIS Assignments
Here are documents of a few presentations I gave over the semester, along with a finding aid that I created to describe one of my very own bookshelves. I also created an e-learning resource website for my instructional design class as well.

Professional Development
Before I even began my second semester, I had the opportunity to help a local school media coordinator with her annual Scholastic Book Fair, which was a dream in and of itself! Later in the semester, I worked at Elon University in a practicum experience with one of my fellow classmates.
Elon University Practicum Experience
Working with the librarians at Elon University's Belk Library was so valuable to understanding the needs of students within academic libraries. We were able to explore the library, get advice from the library's staff, and learn more about how an academic library operates. As the Belk Library created its own living-learning community, we were tasked to create a syllabus for students as well as create events that they could facilitate within the library. We left with a deeper understanding of the ACRL Framework, more experience with student focus groups, and more.
Other Professional Development Experiences
As part of the UNCG Library and Information Studies Student Association (LISSA), I was able to experience a wide range of professional development experiences. From learning more about the formal interview process in academia through an etiquette dinner to presenting my first poster at the UNCG 2018 Graduate Research & Creativity Expo, my eyes were opened to different paths of advancement in the LIS profession.
