I've been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of several projects as a copyeditor and editor. I enjoy reading and making a story shine for other readers, and editing is a true passion of mine.
SuperSummary Associate Editor
As an Associate Editor for SuperSummary.com, I read through study guides that comprehesively summarize and analyze literature to ensure clarity and concision. I focus on developmental edits where needed throughout the guide so that each study guide is produced with the utmost quality for students, teachers, book club members, and more.
Independent Projects
The most recent editing project I had the privilege to assist with was Fate Takes A Hike by B.D. Storey.
The University of Alabama Press
As an editorial intern, I had the pleasure of helping with several projects during my time with the University of Alabama Press. Whether it was copy editing, index editing, or simply just making copies, I was happy to work as intern at the publishing press. Titles that I had a small part in reviewing were
- Archaeopoetics: Word, Image, History by Mandy Bloomfield
- The Battle Over Peleliu: Islander, Japanese, and American Memories of War by Stephen C. Murray
- Exploring Wild Alabama: A Guide to the State's Publicly Accessible Natural Areas by Kenneth M. Wills & L.J. Davenport
- Fighting Monsters in the Abyss: The Second Administration of Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez 2006-2010 by Harvey F. Kline
- Footprints in Stone: Fossil Traces of Coal-Age Tetrapods by Ronald J. Buta & David C. Kopaska-Merkel
- Intimacy by Stanley Crawford
- The Myth of Water: Poems from the Life of Helen Keller by Jeanie Thompson
- Other Letters to Milena by Reina María Rodríguez
- Schooling Readers: Reading Common Schools in Nineteenth Century American Fiction by Allison Speicher
- The Transmutation of Love and Avant-Garde Poetics by Jeanne Heuving
- Turning the Tide: The University of Alabama in the 1960s by Earl H. Tilford.
All of these books can be purchased at the University of Alabama Press's website.
Dewpoint Literary Journal
In 2016, I was selected as Dewpoint’s Lead Copy Editor. My responsibilities included delegating editing tasks, honoring creative boundaries, and editing the entire issue for any errors.
Marr's Field Journal
I was also a part of the Marr’s Field Journal staff for two years, in which I was an assistant editor, and then the marketing manager. I was able to be a part of the entire journal’s process from submissions to design to marketing. The journals are free to view at the Marr's Field Journal website.
Slash Pine Press
As a creative intern with Slash Pine Press, I was able to directly work with each of these projects in an intimate way unlike normal publishing presses. Slash Pine Press published poetry chapbooks, and the creative interns had the honor of helping with design from the ground up. They then hand stitched the books into creation themselves. The publishing press has since closed.
